Not even a single leader in a crowd of a million!

Elections 2009 is a real mockery of Indian Democracy. National level parties started a new regime of advertisement campaigns. BJP and Congress coming up with branded products and brand ambassadors like L.K Advani, Narendra Modi, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and many others in line.

Promises like subsidized food, farm loan waiver, income tax exemption limit, creating jobs, saving youth from job cuts etc. are the major punch lines of the advertisements. Time is not far when we will be seeing frequently any BJP or Congress leader endorsing brand BJP and Congress in tele-shopping advertisements. A day will come when it will be mandatory for politicians to be a diploma or a management graduate in marketing and sales. Experience in media and acting field will be preferred.

Who will or who are running our country, Film Stars, Television Actors, Sports Icons or any local super star? Isn’t a shame on a democracy of a million? Don’t we ask ourselves even once before voting that do we need such people who don’t even know E of Economics, S of Statistics, or P of Political Sciences? Who don’t understand the complexities financial markets! Who don’t understand why there is a job cut in market? Who know the words like recession and inflation like any other vocabulary words written in Oxford dictionary!

Sitting in their AC rooms on leather couch, watching a flat screen TV make them aware of common man problems. As I always feel, why common is so common and common sense sounds so common because we ourselves decide to be in the mob of common people. We are happy with our daily busy life routines or rather we have developed our own ways and comfort zones to be satisfied. We crib for every little thing, we criticize every system but we don’t have enough courage to stand out of crowd and raise our voices.

Actually, we are also not at fault because in today’s corrupted environment we don’t even feel secure while complaining to police people also. Just think over the issue and your mind will come to a dead lock. But the problem is we think over these issues while puffing a holy smoke of cigarettes, while boozing with office colleagues or at dining table while or when we are relaxing and in a mood to talk some serious of intellectual stuff.

Pages will fall short if I will keep on writing over this issue but the problems will not come to end. So in this new era media advertisements of National level parties I can only end by saying “Jago Grahak Jago” instead “Jago Voter Jago”

People in the rural areas still do not give preference to the education and this is the reason why India is still backward and lack proper leaders because people who vote, do not have logic behind their casting vote for ABC

You rightly said “ jago Grahak Jago” but there is no consumer redressal forum for voters which can take up the case of bad governance, except the next elections. I think right to recall the elected representatives should be introduced.

Very rightly said LALIT, and NEHA as I said in my article we Indians follow ”CRIBBING AS THE BEST POLICY” so instead of cribbing v should do something. A small step in the right direction can move lot of things and to do, we have to come out of our comfort zones.

So b4 commenting we should alwaz see that whether we have contributed any thing from our side or not.

Hope u agree....

Definitely, we should do something but what should we do? Can we compete with their might and money. Politics today is a game of might and money.

This might be distasteful, but protests broadcast by international media is what we use to get our way here.

We use the media to shame people into changing their ways. That is why the whole world thinks America is such an awful place, because we don’t hesitate to air our dirty laundry for the whole world to see, if there is a chance that public opinion will effect a change.

Every time someone organizes a protest, they check with newspapers and TV stations first to see if it will be a good day to send out reporters.

That bunch of communists that had control of the government for the last eight years were shameless, not a single conscience to share between them. They thought nothing of trampling the constitution and they didn’t care who knew about it. They used loopholes and executive orders to steal elections and put a gag on reporters.

Do you know Bush forbid Journalists from taking pictures of the coffins of dead soldiers? We Americans are in-your-face kind of people, we need to see these things to get the true scope of what is going on. If there had been daily reports from Iraq from international journalists with fresh footage and not the same ”APPROVED” stock footage used over and over, the people would have been in an uproar.

After the protests and riots over the Vietnam war, (back when there were REAL reporters and not just actors) presidents where more careful to get in and get out quickly in conflicts.

This was different because America had been attacked directly, it gave the government an excuse to suspend liberties and freedoms in the name of national security. Public opinion couldn’t be brought to bear on these guys. They were in a sense, untouchable. Lots of people are working now to patch up the loopholes and undo the damage, we have no idea how long it will take.

I know situations are different, and what works for one won’t work for another, but maybe just some bits and pieces of it added to some of India’s collective strategies might work. There are a lot of really smart people in India, all it will take is getting them together on an issue. Best of luck, and good wishes :)

Politics is a strange thing.Someone has rightly stated that ”In a Democracy, the people get the government they deserve”.Lot of problem has arisen because of dullness of mind of the voters.Who asked them to elect blockheads as their representative ?

One thing more. It’s not necessary to be aware of ”E of Economics, S of Statistics, or P of Political Sciences?” to turn into a better leader.

Both Manmohan Singh and P Chidambaram were quite aware of ”E of Economics, S of Statistics, or P of Political Sciences?” but still Indian economy was in doldrums during their reign. Why?Why the prices of essential times were beyond the reach of common man ?

On the other hand,Mr Lalu Yadav who was simply not aware of these terms introduced some notable methods to improve the condition of people.

You need not to be intellectual to be a leader. You should have a heart and mind to feel the pulse of people.

No need for us to shed crocodile tears of poor state of affairs in Indian political landscape. We are responsible for sending wrong people in Lok Sabha and State Assemblies. It’s a harsh truth that as voters we made wrong choices. So let’s pay the price.

Anyway, let’s be optimistic. We are becoming conscious and making some better choice.

”Both Manmohan Singh and P Chidambaram were quite aware of ”E of Economics, S of Statistics, or P of Political Sciences?” but still Indian economy was in doldrums during their reign. Why?Why the prices of essential times were beyond the reach of common man ?”

Like to know from you why these so well-qualified intellectuals were not able to use their knowledge in improving the situation both in political and economic fields ?

In other words, I wish to quash your stand that we need to know ”E of Economics, S of Statistics, or P of Political Sciences?”.

You say we don’t need people ” Who don’t understand the complexities financial markets! Who don’t understand why there is a job cut in market? Who know the words like recession and inflation like any other vocabulary words written in Oxford dictionary!”

Just see what these people have done for who were very well aware of words like recession and inflation, much better than people only aware about them as vocabulary words written in Oxford dictionary!

An economist by profession, Singh has previously worked at organizations like the International Monetary Fund and the United Nations.

(In the Oxbridge tradition, holders of the BA degree with honours are entitled in due course to an MA degree.) He won the Wright’s Prize for distinguished performance in 1955 and 1957. He was also one of the few recipients of the Wrenbury scholarship. In 1962, Singh completed his D.Phil from the University of Oxford where he was a member of Nuffield College. Mr. Arvind,

Not to argue much on the point but these are the people responsible for some revolutionary changes in Indian Economy..

I admire your in-depth knowledge over political issues but we should not criticize for the sake of critizing. Go back in past and see the steps taken by them... Analyze and then try to comment…

Writing comments by using good vocabulary doesn’t hide the intellect of these great people.

It will be again a full page explanation about what happened, why price hike? Why job cuts? How well LEFT party supported Congress over the issues…? How other bigger economies are responsible for that?

It is a long debatable issue!!!

A humble request to just go through the article once more and try to read between the lines that what exactly I am intending to say

It’s the intellect of these people that have made life of aam aadmi hellish!!

Why should I go in the past and analyze their good work when I can see the drawbacks by analyzing the present.

I am not criticizing anybody only for sake of getting cheap attention. My dear friend the water is flowing above our heads. The sign of progress is not mobile in the hands of rikshawallah. The sign of progress is ensuring bread and butter for all the people, providing quality health facilities to poor and providing better education to all the people.

Instead of tackling all these issues, they entered in appeasement of minorities or for that matter worked for making life better for elites all in the name of globalization.

Why shouldn’t we protest ?

Aaj Daal 50 rupaye se upar bik rahi hai! Gas Ke dam lagbhag 400 rypayein hai.Ab batayein aam aadmi kya hava-paani peekar rahein ?Ho sakta hai kal ko ye padhein likhein log hava-paani pe bhi na tax laga de!!!
